Barcelona Disputatio. Inaugural event of the Barcelona Knowledge Hub

The Barcelona Knowledge Hub celebrated its inaugural event by commemorating the 750th anniversary of the Barcelona Disputatio, and organising its own, modern day Disputatio. Philosopher Thomas Pogge and neuroscientist Mara Dierssen presented two perspectives on the topic, Social and state-of-the-art medicine.

 

 

Evolution by cooperation. The work of Lynn Margulis (1938–2011)

Lynn Margulis died on 22 November 2011. This International Symposium, organised by the Fundación Ramón Areces with the collaboration of the Institut d’Estudis Catalans, Barcelona, honoured her, on the first anniversary of her death, by presenting state of the art research in various fields related to her work. 
Catalan Workshop on Science Journals
Organiser, 2007–2012
 
The Catalan Workshop on Science Journals (JCRC) provide a space where publishers, scientists and information professionals can share experiences. The aim of the JCRC is to support the editorial and publishing boards of science journals, to improve publications, providing the tools and knowledge to improve quality standards and formal aspects of science journals and to promote the dissemination and international visibility through publications indexed in databases and directories.

Artifact
Committee, 2013 – Current

 

Artifact is a student led project born in 2010 and hosted between students at Imperial College London and the Royal College of Art. Our aim is to foster informal dialogue between the scientists and artists working at these two prestigious colleges through a series of fun social events and lectures. The project also supports creative collaborative projects, culminating in an annual two-week exhibition showcasing the achievements of our participants.

Earth Day at the Institute for Catalan Studies

Since 1970, Earth Day is celebrated worldwide on April 22. The goal is to increase awareness of problems such as pollution, biodiversity, conservation, climate change and other environmental issues, caused by modern society. The Institute of Catalan Studies, joins the celebration with a one day event, 'Earth Day at the IEC, to sustainability, conservation and climate change through lectures by leading scientists and experts in the field.

 

 

Premis CineTIC
Organiser, 2011
 
Premis CineTIC was a short film competition for high school students. More than 800 students, from 30 schools, participated with 135 short films in the first edition. A total of 10 prizes were awarded at the final gala, and the winners of the best film got to have it screened in cinemas across Catalonia.
